McDonald's Chinese company renamed "Golden Arches" but the restaurant is still c

US fast food giant McDonald's (MCD.N) spokesman confirmed to Reuters Thursday, the Chinese company changed its name to "Golden Arches (China) Co., Ltd.", but the restaurant name is still "McDonald's".

McDonald's previously agreed to sell most of China and Hong Kong's business to CITIC Shares (0267.HK) and Carlyle Group (CG.O). According to the plan, by 2022, the number of McDonald's mainland Chinese restaurants will be close to double to 4,500.

McDonald's China official microblogging said: "renamed only the license level, the wheat grain to the restaurant or look for 'McDonald' Oh.

"Our restaurant name will not change, this change only stay in the business license level," spokesman Regina Hui told Reuters in the e-mail. She did not comment further on the reasons for the rename.

CITIC has 52% stake in McDonald's China and Hong Kong business, Carlyle has 28%. McDonald's own 20% stake.
