A U.S. man threatened to kill the White House "all white police officers" was ar

The U.S. Secret Service said a Texas man was arrested on Monday by the Secret Service agents near the White House who was suspected of traveling to Washington to kill the White House's "all white police."

The Secret Service said Michael Arega, from Dallas, was arrested on Monday afternoon after police in Montgomery County, Maryland, warned the man was in the Washington area. The relevant authorities do not have the age record of Arega.

"The Secret Service staff in the White House raised their alert immediately and started searching Arega," the agency said in a statement.

The Secret Service said more than an hour after receiving notice that Arega was found on the northern side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Square and was successfully detained by Secret Service agents.

Shawn Holtzclaw, a spokesman for the Secret Service, told Reuters over the phone that Arega was unarmed when arrested and is currently under investigation for a serious felony threat.

The Secret Service said Arega has been handed over to the Washington Metropolitan Police.
