Taiwan Media: Mainland China Trademark Tribune officials refuse to contact Taiwa

The annual Cross-Strait Trademark Forum was held yesterday (December 5) in New Taipei City. Liu Junchen, deputy director of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, has recently arrived in Taiwan, but the mainland side said it would not share the same stage with officials of Tsai Ing-wen authorities.

Cross-Strait Trademark Forum is the annual event of cross-Strait Trademark Affairs Exchanges. The organizer of the mainland is the China Trademark Association, and the Taiwan side is hosted by the Cross-Strait Business Coordination Association. The forum takes turns held on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, this year is the twelfth.

Since 2014, Liu Junchen, deputy director of SAIC led the team to attend the annual meeting. In 2015, he led a delegation to Taipei for the Cross-Strait Trademark Forum, which is still led by him this year.

According to Taiwan media reports, officials from mainland China including Taiwan's "Director of the Intellectual Property Bureau" Hong Shumin and other officials of the Taiwan authorities can not appear in the venue. The forum is also closed behind the scenes and the media are not to be interviewed. "Intellectual Property Agency" said Hong Shumin will not attend, it will not be assigned personnel to participate.

Although the cross-Strait Trademark Forum is hosted by the private sector, the officials of the two sides of the Strait have used the occasion to exchange views on this occasion. In Taiwan, when Wang Meihua, former director of the "Ministry of Economic Affairs" used to serve as the director of "Intellectual Property Bureau," she participated in five consecutive years from 2011 to 2015, on the same stage many times with former Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Industry Fu Shuangjian and current Deputy Director Liu Jun-chen.
