Fitch Ratings raised Indonesia's sovereign debt rating a notch on Thursday to the second-lowest in investment grade, saying the country's macroeconomic and monetary policy directions have strengthened its economy's ability to withstand external shocks.
Fitch raised its rating on Indonesia's sovereign debt from BBB-BBB to BBB and looks stable.
Fitch said Indonesia's ability to withstand external shocks has steadily risen in the past few years under macroeconomic policies aimed at maintaining stability.
"The discipline of monetary policy is already sufficient to limit the volatile outflow of capital in hard times," Fitch said in a statement.
