Mazda plans to produce electric vehicles in the early 1920s

Japan's Kyodo News reported Friday that Mazda Motor (7261.T) plans to produce electric vehicles in the early 1920s, including petrol hybrids.

A spokesman for Mazda declined to comment on the report.

Mazda currently does not sell any pure electric cars, but in the sale of hybrid cars.

The company said last month that it would launch a new engine in 2019 and said it would be the world's first gasoline engine to use compression ignition. This is the company's traditional engine placed in the long-term strategy of the core position of a plan.
