OPEC and non OPEC countries will meet on Friday to discuss whether to extend the cut-off agreement to support oil prices and to consider monitoring exports to assess production cuts.
The members of Kuwait, Venezuela and Algeria, as well as non-OPEC oil-producing countries, Russia and Oman, will meet in 0800GMT on Friday.
Kuwait Oil Minister Essam Al-Marzouq said Thursday that production cuts were improving and above 100%. He told reporters after arriving in Vienna, "the situation is better, better than last month."
Three sources said OPEC and non-OPEC member countries of the technical committee said the implementation rate in August cut 116%. This is higher than 94% in July. The committee held a meeting on Wednesday.
The meeting of the Joint Ministerial Control Committee, chaired by Kuwait on Friday, may suggest extending the scope of production cuts. The next meeting will be held in November.
An OPEC representative said that there was no consensus on how long the cut-off agreement should be extended.
